LEIGH FANANA 2019 42" tall, 5.5" bloom, 4 branches, 20 buds, Dor, Early Midseason, Tet (Unknown x Wiggly Piggly) $30 DF
* "Unknown" pod parent is Dr Apricot (garden name). Please see separate page describing this daylily
Leigh Fanana has unique qualities that, IMO, make it worth introducing "another yellow": the flowers are a beautiful form and are held extremely stiffly - almost as if they were plastic, so little do they move. Never drooping, always bright and alert. The reverse of the petals has a greenish tinge, and this has a tendency to show through the buttery, golden yellow on the flower face, giving it a subtle, cool "lemon-lime" look. Add to this a strong scape with good branching and bud count, good increase, and a long bloom period starting at the early part of the midseason, and the result is a worthy addition to any garden. It is pod and pollen fertile and has interesting gene potential, as "Dr Apricot" appears to be a Reckamp polychrome, and Wiggly Piggly passes on both great flower form and excellent branching.
