AUNT ESTHER (Laffin 2024) 40" tall, 6.5" bloom, 4 branches, 18 buds, Mid, Dor, Tet

                             $70 DF

Aunt Esther is from a cross of Curt Hanson's Integrated Logistics and a Hanson seedling. The presentation is clear, pretty, tall and bright. Each scape has four branches with an average of 18 buds, providing a rich burst of color. This is a very reliable daylily in cold harsh climates. It never has a problem with bitterly cold winters, and always increases nicely.

Named after my wonderful paternal grandmother, who was from Norway but had a sad beginning - her father left the family when she was 12, and her mother, lacking funds, gave her to a childless couple emigrating to New Hampshire. It was a rough transition for Esther, coming to a new country with total strangers, but when she was 18, she met my grandfather and life proceeded much more happily for her as she was welcomed into his kind, extended family.   So, "Nana" to me, but "Aunt Esther" to everyone else,  she is named for someone who withstood early challenges and ended up thriving.  (And she made the best meatballs and strawberry shortcake!)
